Golf has become one
of the most booming sports in the Czech Republic. Although the Golf club
in Karlovy Vary was established in 1904 and the Golf course in Mariánské
Lázně in 1905, the majority of new golf courses is created in the present
period. The 18-hole golf courses, such as Prague-Karlštejn, Karlovy Vary
and Mariánské Lázně, are located in beautiful landscapes and offer a nice
combination of superb lodging and dining with great golf experience.
Praha Karlštejn Golf Club The club was established in 1992, the golf course opened in 1993, and designed by Canadian Les Furber and Jim Eremko. It is situated in a wooded hilly landscape with a beautiful view over the Berounka valley with the majestic castle of Karlštejn and yet only a few minutes drive from central Prague. A wide choice of Prague hotels is recommended. Length: men white 6361 m, yellow 5880 m, women blue 5376 m, red 4876 m Par: 72 Mariánské Lázně Golf Club The oldest Golf course on the Czech soil was inaugurated by King Edward VII on 28 August 1905. The PGA Volvo Tour is held here every year. Ideal accommodation can be found in Parkhotel Golf and in other hotels in the town of Mariánské Lázně, just 2 km away. A good combination with quiet spa holidays. Length: men white 6195 m, yellow 6040 m, women blue 5350 m, red 5305 m Par: 72 Karlovy Vary Golf Club The oldest club in the Czech Republic was established in 1904. The golf course was constructed in 1932 by architect Noskowski at Olšová Vrata just 5 km Out of the town. New clubhouse was built in 1996. For hotel accommodation, the Grandhotel Pupp and other fine hotels are recommended. Length: men white 6141 m, yellow 5636 m, women blue 5358 m, red 4996 m Par: 72 Štiřín Golf Club The golf course was laid out in 1992 in the grounds of Štiřín castle about 20 km south of Prague close to the Prague-Brno motorway. Nice accommodation in the castle is to be recommended. Prague hotels are also close. Length: 9 holes, men 3478 m, women 3030 m Par: 62 Praha-Motol Golf Club The Golf Club was established in 1926. The present 9-hole course was built within the city by architect Kamil Pilát. All Prague hotels are fine for accommodation. Length: 9 holes, men yellow 5446 m, women red 4792 m Par: 70 Praha-Líšnice Golf Club The golf course, laid out in 1928, is located at the village of Líšnice about 18 km southwest of Prague. All Prague hotels are within a few-minute drive. Length: 9 holes, men 5002 m, women 4326 m Par: 68 Praha-Hodkovičky Golf Club A newly established 9-hole golf course in the southern part of the city at the river Vltava with superb illuminated driving range. All hotels in Prague are close to this new golf course. Poděbrady Golf Club Established in 1961, the course is located in a spa town on the river Labe. It was projected by architects B. Wagner and K. Havelka. Its interesting feature are the ma ny natural water obstacles. We can recommend hotels in Podehrady or in Prague, only 50 km along a motorway.
